Taxpayer Bill of Rights
As a taxpayer, you are backed with your rights under the US Constitution, including your 4th and 5th Amendment rights. However, us American taxpayers are also protected by the Taxpayer Bill of Rights- which comes into play with respect to any contacts you may have with the IRS. These rights, which I have included here as a PDF, include the right to privacy, representation, fairness and appeals, among others. Get acquainted with these rights, as the IRS is required by law to follow them. In addition, never be afraid to assert any of these rights, no matter how intimidating the IRS may be!
